The Psaltic Arts, commonly known as Byzantine Chant or Byzantine Music, the historic chant of the Orthodox Church of the Ecumene, has survived the test of time for nearly two millennia, and has been adapted from its original Greek into Arabic, Romanian, and Church Slavonic.  Now, in the dawn of the 21st Century, practitioners of the Psaltic Art have endeavored to adapt and arrange  from the classical scores of Koukouzelis, Kladas, Iakovos, Chrysaph, Petros, Gregorios and many others into the English language, and are teaching English speakers to chant in the classical style.

In this section, some of the core repertoire from the Portland Cathedral is available.  It is hoped that these hymns will help enrich the liturgical life of our communities.
